TENNIS.COM: CELEBRATING BLACK DESIGNERS SERVING UP FASHION ACES
Tennis.com’s Baseline blog wrapped up Black History Month by celebrating six Black designers it says are “shaking up the tennis fashion landscape.” FURI Sport took its honorable place alongside the likes of Venus Williams, whose brand EleVen includes classic tennis pieces like tops, skirts and dresses; her sister Serena, who has collaborated with Nike and Virgil Abloh, as well as creating her own label; and Naomi Osaka, who has shown a collection at New York Fashion Week.
The article reads: “Based out of Brooklyn, New York, FURI Sport set out on a mission to take tennis out of the country club and into the city. Launched in 2016 by business partners Erick Mathelier and Michelle Spiro with a line of unisex sports apparel, Furi also dropped their own tennis racquet—and they even make their own strings.”
